Silverio Lopez immigrated to the United States in the 80’s with his wife, Juventina, to work in a family tire shop in Chicago. The family moved to Detroit when it seemed like there were a lot of opportunities for work and real estate. They have raised four children in Southwest Detroit, all of whom have been involved in the family’s businesses. Silverio and Juventina are proud to be a part of Southwest Detroit’s growth and became citizens in 2015.
In January 2016, the story of this family and the Lopez Tire business was featured in Hour Detroit Magazine.

Lalo remembers coming home from middle school and his mom sending him straight to the shop. The boys would ride their bikes a few blocks and spend the afternoon jacking up cars, removing tires, running tools and cleaning up almost everyday.
This hard work kept the boys out of the gangs of Southwest Detroit that were prevalent in the 1990s. They know they owe their lives to the work ethic their parents instilled in them, continuing to run the family shop 7 days a week, 10-14 hours a day.” Read full article.
